Taking Flight- chapter five

“Whoa. Wait- what?! The guy from my dreams? Nononononononono…I have to get out of here, you have the wrong person. I’m no one important!”
“Catherine, Catherine, Catherine. Don’t you know? Don’t you know why they changed you? You more then important. You control the fate of the world.”
“Geez, no pressure or anything. So why do you want me? Why didn’t you change me first?”
“Because they already had you. Do you know what the sun on your palm does?”
“No… I don’t. But I do know its going to be the color of my wings.”
“The sun on your palm is the symbol of your life. You’re the only person in the world that has a golden sun. Everyone else has stars.”
“That’s enough Azael. Tell her no more. You’ll ruin her life, her mind. Don’t do this until she’s changed.”
“Gabriel... I cannot do that. I need her on my side.”
“I can’t believe- I’m right here! Don’t talk about me like that!”
Gabriel turned to me and smiled warmly. “Sorry Catherine. I didn’t mean to.”
Azael laughed and waved his had at me. “Lets make a deal Gabriel. I win, I get Catherine. You win, you get her.”
I tried to speak but nothing came out.
“What did you do to her Azael?”
“Old magick. Now, the deal?”
“How about this one? If I win, Catherine comes with me. You cannot touch her until we are safely back in my realm.  If I lose then it’s the deal we had before.”
“Deal.” He pointed to me and I felt all tingly, my brow furrowed in frustration.
“What are you doing to her?!”
“I’m making it so that we have to fight each other to get her.  Run up and touch her palm. That’s the way you win.
“Then lets get started.” A sword and a shield appeared in his hand. Full body armor shimmered over his body, gleaming white. Azael just stood there laughing.  Gabriel sprinted towards me, but ran into an invisible wall.
“What…What is this?”
“My way to stop you.” Azael walked towards me with no problem.
“That’s cheating!” Gabriel struggled.
“All is fair, no rules.” He smirked.
“Fine then.” Gabriel waved his hand and made a portal. A light appeared in front of me and Gabriel stepped through it. “Hello Catherine.”  Azael started to do the same thing, but Gabriel touched my palm, and the fight was all over. The tingling feeling went away.
“Gabriel…” I hugged him. “Thank you!” He smiled at me.  Azael looked murderous.
“I will keep my promise. You shall be safe until you reach your realm. Go on before I change my mind.” Gabriel grabbed my hand and made another portal. He walked through and dragged me with him.
Taking Flight-chapter 6
“Adrian!!! I’m so happy to see you!”
“Adrian you are in SO much trouble.”
“I’m happy to see you too Catherine, I’m sorry I told you to leave the front gates. And I’m sorry Prof. for disobeying you.”
Gabriel nodded at him.
“Its ok Adrian, its my fault as much as it was yours.”
“Catherine… Your glowing…”
“What?”
“Your getting your wings. Look at your palm, the mark should be expanding.” Gabriel said, excited.
“Ow! Why does it have to hurt so much?!”
“It’s the test to see if you can bear it or not. I not then… well… you would die.”
I heard a ripping noise, and with a shock, knew it was coming from me.
“Adrian go get towels. Some dry, some wet. Catherine lay down on your stomach and take off your shirt.” I did as he asked. Adrian came at a flat out run towards us, his arms filled with towels. A red haze filled my vision, and then everything went black.

Taking Flight- chapter four

"Leave him alone! Don;t hurt him please! What do you want?!"
"We wont hurt him, if you come with us. Silently." Then he turned to Adrian. "She gave up her freedom for yours. Go tell the Archangel that we have her. Better hurry." Then gave him a cold smile. Another person came up behind me and threw me over his shoulder. Adrian scrambled to his feet and started to run away, but turned to look at me one last time. He mouthed "I will be back to get you." then ran off again. I started to punch the back of the person carrying me, but they just bound my hands. I tried shouting for help, but no one was around so i shut up. But of course, I just ended up crying.
One of the people growled.

Will you tape her mouth shut? Its getting annoying."
"Wish i could. No tape though. We're almost to the van." I started kicking.
"You said 3 days! Its only been three hours! Lemme go!"
"We were joking. It was to give you hope that you could escape. So no."
"I'll get out one way or another! So help me!" I started struggling again. "Gabriel will come for me!"
"Shut up!" the first man growled. "Good. We're at the van. Toss her in the back."
"I'll be happy to." The second man said. He threw me in the back and unbound my hands.
"Ow..." he smiled and slammed the door. I rubbed my wrists. "Jerks." It felt like hours on the bumpy roads. And then i heard the voice. It sounded frantic.
"Catherine! Can you hear me? Answer me!"
"G-Gabriel?"
"Thank the heavens! Why did you go off campus?!"
"Adrian told me it was safe."
"You still should have stayed. Are you ok? Are you hurt?"
"Not hurt. I'm scared and hungry. What do they want with me?"
He hesitated. "I don't know. But w-"
Man one said "Shes trying to communicate!"
Man two "Stop her! we can't have anyone snooping!" then a pushing sensation and he was gone. I started crying again.
"We're here." Man one said 2 hours later, or that's what it seemed like. I huddled in to a corner hoping they wouldn't see me. The door opened and light spilled in. They found me anyway. Man two grabbed me and threw me over his shoulder. Again.
"Help! Help me! Please! Anyone!" and then another guy showed up (are there any girls other than me?). He had sandy hair and red eyes. He looked like a surfer and had the tan too. He smirked like he had won the lottery.
"Welcome to my house. My name is Azael."

Taking Flight- Chapter three

"Catherine."
"Gabriel?"
"No. I am not the archangel."
"Then... Who are you?"
"I am Azrael. Angel of death. And right now, the ruler of the Daemons. I have a message for  your mentor. Tell him 'We are coming for her.'" Azrael laughed. It sounded cold and malicious.
"Coming for who?" He stayed silent, but he had a smirk on his face. "Answer me!"
"You will find out soon. About 3 days time. Now wake up and go tell the Archangel."
I jolted out of the dream. I ran to the closet and through some clothes on.
"GABRIELLLLLLLL! GABRIEL COME HEREEEE" he came 2 minutes later.
"What is it Catherine?!" I told him all about my dream.
"This is bad.. this is very bad.. Let me see your palm." I showed it to him. "I should have known.. I have to go tell the other archangels. Catherine stay here. You'll be safe on campus." Gabriel walked away stiffly.
"I have to get off campus.." I muttered to myself.
"Ya know thats the first sign of going crazy."
"Adrian?! When did you get here?!"
"Gabriel told me to protect you."
"I don't need a baby sitter."
"I'll take you to the mall if you want, you need something normal."
"I'd like that, but i was told not to go off campus."
"No one will know."
"Fine. But if i get in trouble im going to kill you. Just so you know."
"I can understand that."
"So how are we going to leave?"
"Through the front door.. How else?"
"Oh.." I felt my cheeks getting red.
Adrian started walking. Without looking over his shoulder he aid "Are you coming or not?"
"Uh.. Ya." I ran to catch up with him. "Adrian wait up!!!"
"Go faster. I'm not slowing down."
I Finally caught up to him, huffing and puffing. It felt like my lungs would burst out of my chest.  "Wow you're fast."
"Took football in High-school." We finally made it to the gate that surrounded the campus, Adrian muttered something to the guard standing there.  A few exchanges later and we were out. I took a breath of air. Free from that school.
"Malls this way."
"Catherine?!"
"Lucy?!"
"Its is you!! OMGoodness! I missed you so much!" Lucy ran over to us.
"Catherine. We have to go, someone is following you." Adrian whispered to me. i turned around, but all i saw were shadows.
"Lucy i have to go back to the school, see you later." I hugged her.
"Bye Catherine, see you sooner than you think."
"What was that about Adrian? She was my best friend!"
Something's following us. We have to go back to the house. Just for wondering, but what color is the sun on your palm?"
"Gold."
"Hmmmm.."
And thats when the club hit Adrian on the back of his head.

Taking Flight- chapter two

"W-where are we?"
"The house."
"Uhmmmm..."
He sighed. "You have such a way with words don't you."
I glared at him.
"Oh comon, lighten up!"
"Is that a joke or something?"
"Uh.."
"Now who look who has a way with words." He shut up after that. A new guy joined us a few minutes later.
"Hi Gabriel." Adrian said.
"Hows the new fledgling?"
"As far as i know fine."
"Whos her mentor?"
"Excuse me?! I'm right here you know!" They looked at me in surprise. "I don't like being talked about when i'm right here."
"Sorry 'bout that. My name is Gabriel. Whats yours?"
"My name is Catherine." Now that he was facing me, I could see his features. He had high cheek bones, dark chocolate brown eyes, tousled brown hair that went down to the tips of his ears, and kinda pale skin. He was really cute.
"So where am I? Better ask, What am I?"
"Why your at The House, and your a fledgling, well a fledgling angel anyway, don't want to be confused with Daemons."
"What are you?"
"I'm Gabriel, Archangel of the heavens, second in command." I think my jaw dropped to the floor, again. Then I went screaming at the top of my lungs.
"Adrian! Make her shut up!"
"I'm trying!"
"Catherine." Adrian said. "You have to be quiet. I know this is a shock, but you have to calm down."
My screaming cut off, but I started to run away. Gabriel muttered something to Adrian, and Adrian started to protest, but Gabriel gave him what i like to call, the look, and his protests shut off. Gabriel started after me and my run slowed to a jog.
"Catherine."
I didn't answer.
"Catherine. Turn around, or ill have to come and get you."
I didn't turn around put i plopped down on the grass. Tears leaked out of my eyes. Gabriel put his arm around me and started murmuring words that i didn't understand.
"If you want i can be your mentor." He said after i stopped crying.
"Ya. I mean yes sir."
He laughed.
"Oh um.. sorry, i got your shirt all wet." I grimaced.
"It can always be changed."
"What language were you speaking?"
He hesitated before answering. "Celtic, you'll learn how to speak it too."
My face must have been priceless, because he touched my nose and laughed.
"Just remember Catherine, never go off campus unless: me, another angel, or a  Guardian comes with you."
"Whats a Guardian?"
"Half Angel, Half Human."
"Do you have wings? Am i bothering you with questions?"
"Yes and no. I don't get bothered easily."
"Can I see your wings?"
"Mhm."
He took off his shirt and unfolded his wings. They were white, pure white.
"Uh... Wow."
He laughed again.
"You are so infuriating! Stop laughing at me!"
"Goodnight Fledgling, May you have ever sweet dreams." he pointed to a building. "Dorms are over there. Your room is 342. Floor 3"
"Thanks and goodnight."

Taking Flight- chapter one

“Come on Lucy! Its freezing out here!”
“I’ll be out in a minute!” I tapped my foot, counting the seconds. Lucy’s front door slammed right when I got to a full minute.
“Hiya Catherine!”
“Hi Lucy. Ready to go to the mall?”
“Defiantly, I need new clothes,” She looked at my ski jacket. “And apparently so do you.” I glared at her. Then coughed.
“Hey Cathy, you getting a chest cold?”
“Just a frog in my throat.”
“Mk, Well did you hear about the new guy Warren?! He’s such a total hottie! I hear he-“ I tuned her out as she started her gossip trail.
Its to bad i never saw the man leaning against the mall wall. Not until he said the eternal words that would make my life change forever.
"Catherine Grace, You are marked with symbol of Light, Light claims you and you are forever her daughter, I name thee and Angel of Light. The Angels call to you and you wil heed thy calls." His finger pointed to my chest and my back exploded with pain.
******
"Catherine?"
"Lucy?"
"I'm right here." I opened my eyes to see her bending over me.
"Your eyes..." Lucy mumbled.
"What? Whats wrong?!"
"Look at your palm while I get a mirror."
I sighed and looked at my palm. Right in the middle was a picture of the sun, glowing gold. It felt like my jaw had dropped to the concrete.  Lucy laid a mirror on my palm and then cringed away. Seriously cringed.
"Look at your eyes." I looked in to the mirror and saw what she saw. My eyes were the same color they always were, but were ringed in white throughout the color blue. Lucy's phone rang. She looked at the caller ID but looked greif stricken.
"My mom wants me home.."
"Go." Her relief was like a smack in the face. She backed away, then turned and ran. The guy from the mall then walked over.
"Why, why me?! Why did you have to choose me?!"
"Because its your destiny. The Angels called, i am only the messenger. Now come with me." He held out his hand.
I don't even know your name! Plus i can't go anywhere with strangers."
"Are you always this infuriating?"
"Usually more." he looked irritated. Good.
He rolled his eyes and grabbed my hand. "My name is Adrian."
"Catherine. Nice to meet you." He just nodded. His other hand waved in front of him making some light appear.
"Whats that?"
"A Portal. Shush." I shut up immediately. Adrian tugged on my arm pulling me through the portal.
